About the Library

BijuPatnaik Institute of Information Technology and Management Studies, BIITM has a long history of academic excellence, imparting industry focused management education since 1999. The BIITM Library with its rich collections of information resources and innovative information services plays a vital role in the intellectual pursuits of BIITM academic community. The Library has been automated using KOHA Integrated Library Management Systems. Library is well equipped with text books, reference books, E-resources and print resources.

BIITM Library promises to facilitate convenient and user friendly access to current and relevant information in various formats ( Print and non-print) to serve the information needs of the academic fraternity of BIITM to meet their teaching, research, training and learning requirements.

Empowering BIITM’s academic community with enriching collections, innovative services, and state-of-art technologies strengthened by strategic partnerships with Library Networks.

Library Membership

BIITM library provides its membership by default to the students, faculties, staffs and research scholars of BIITM. The membership is valid as long as the user becomes the member of the institute. The library membership will be suspended or terminated and disciplinary action will be taken, if the member has done any of the followings:

• Found the missing/mutilating/stealing/cutting pages form a books or any other materials.
• Improper use of Library facilities

Borrowing Privileges and over due fine

Only registered member can borrow books form library on production of their library card or membership ID issued by the library at the circulation desk. The entitlement of number of books on loan and loan period with overdue fine for different categories as follows:

Renewal of Books:

If a loan book is not a demand, then the user concerned is allowed for renewal a maximum of two consecutive times. The renewal of books can be done with the help of library staff at the circulation counter. The users maybe recallby library staffs at any point in times if, need arises.

Reservation of Books

Each member has privilege to reserve or hold a maximum of two books. If the same are borrowed by other member of the library, then the reservation can be done with the help of library staffs.

Overdue fine collection

Books used on loan to a user must either return or renew on or before due date, failing which the user concerned charged with fine Rs. 1/- per book per day.

No Dues/ Clearance Certificate

No dues/ clearance certificate may be issued to members by clearing all the outstanding dues in respect to borrowed book (s) and delayed fine (if any).

Arrangement of Library Collections

The library collections are arranged in the following ways:
Print books are classified according Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) systems and arranged by classification number (Subject wise) on the shelves. Reference books are arranged according to class number wise separately. The detail shelf guide is provided in the stack areas for easy location. Print journals are arranged alphabetically for the users.

Library Rules

• The library is open from Monday to Saturday from 9: 30 Am to 6: 30 PM
• Library follows open access systems
• Book can be borrowed against library card or membership ID issued by the library to the borrowers.
• While entering the library, reader should keep their personal belongings, such as bags, briefcases, personal books etc. near property counter. However, they can carry laptops, note books, and loose papers and use them in reading room.
• User shall maintain atmosphere of dignity, peace and silence.
• Handle the library materials with utmost care.
• Smoking, food and drinks are not allowed in the library.
• No material should be taken from the library without prior permission of the library staff.
• Readers living the library should allow the library/security staffs to examine their personal belongings.
